Forgejo is up and running, and based on what I've thrown at it, we can use it. It doesn't seem to draw too many resources, signup flow is good for new users, and I might even encorporate 0auth to make it even easier.
That being said, I'm in no rush to bring over every single porject from Github. New projects can and probably should be started on the Forgejo, but stuff we rely on can stay over at Github for the foreseeable future.
For example, the website that I just redesigned. I am using the repo on Forgejo as the main repo, but I'm going to keep the one on Github running, particularly because the Cloudflare hosting is connected to that.
That's the major bump in the road, most services aren't going to connect easily to Frogejo repos. Long term we'll figure out workarounds, and hopefully with something like LogGit is won't really be as necessary to connect to corporate services further down the road.
One thing I do need to work on soon is sign up. I didn't want to have open signups, so right now if someone wants and account they'll have to ask me and I can get them setup.
